I nearly finished this non-fiction book cover back in April, when the publisher pulled the plug and decided to go a different direction. The process involved a good amount of design research, which is probably the best part of my job (turns out there’s a ton of ¬†old-timey historic stuff on the web! Who knew?) The goal with this piece was simply to model the lettering and filigree after old broadsides from the period, which is not to far from my normal way of working.
